Commercial Stamp Duty in Canberra


From 1 July 2023, commercial properties with a dutiable value of $1,800,000 or less will pay no conveyance duty. Where the value is greater than $1,800,000 a flat rate of 5 per cent will apply.

ACT Business Innovation & Investment VISA


The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) offers nomination under the following streams:

  1. 188A – Business Innovation stream: this is a provisional (5 year) visa for people who want to invest at least $200,000 to establish or purchase a business in Canberra.
  2. 188A – Business Innovation Extension stream: this visa is for holders of a subclass 188 visa who are seeking a two year extension of their visa to help them meet the criteria for a permanent subclass 888 visa.
  3. 188B – Investor stream: this is a provisional (5 year) visa for people who want to invest A$2.5 million into Complying Investments .
  4. 188C – Significant Investor stream: this is a provisional (5 year) visa for people who want to invest A$5 million into Complying Investments .
  5. 188E – Entrepreneur Stream: this is a provisional (5 year) visa for people who are undertaking, or proposing to undertake, an entrepreneurial venture in Canberra.

Traditionally we put all our focus on the residential sales and then get stuck with the commercial at the end.
